Frequently Asked Questions
Will cropping a PDF permanently remove content or just hide it?
A PDF CropBox hides content outside the visible area; the hidden data remains in the file. Cropping and covering text are not secure redaction. PDFtiny does not currently provide a secure redaction tool.
Can I set exact margin measurements in millimeters or inches?
Yes. PDFtiny's crop tool lets you enter precise margin values in mm, inches, or pixels for all four edges individually. This is useful for removing scanner borders (typically 5–10 mm) from scanned book pages.
Can I crop all pages of a PDF at once with the same settings?
Yes. Apply crop settings to page 1, then select "Apply to all pages" to replicate the exact same cropping across the entire document in one click.
My PDF has different page sizes. Can I crop each page differently?
Yes. Select individual pages in the thumbnail view and apply different crop dimensions to each page independently.
