Frequently Asked Questions
Why do government portals require a minimum PDF file size?
Many government exam and job application portals enforce both minimum and maximum file sizes to ensure submitted documents are not empty, corrupted, or suspiciously small blank files. Common requirements are "between 100KB and 1MB" for full scanned application forms.
How does PDFtiny increase a PDF file size without corrupting it?
PDFtiny embeds hidden metadata padding within the PDF structure — using a standards-compliant embedded stream object — to reach the target size. The visible content, text, images, and layouts are completely unchanged.
Will increasing PDF size affect print quality?
No. The increase operation only adds metadata padding. All visible page content — text, images, fonts, layout — remain byte-for-byte identical to the original.
What is the maximum size I can increase a PDF to?
PDFtiny supports increasing PDFs to any target size up to 50 MB within your browser session. For most government portal requirements (typically 1 MB–10 MB), this is more than sufficient.
